CANoe provides a robust platform for the development, simulation, analysis, and testing of individual software components, subsystems, ECUs, and entire distributed networks. It is designed for use across diverse industries including automotive, medical technology, avionics, and industrial sectors, supporting the entire development lifecycle from planning to system testing. CANoe is equally effective for Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testing in virtual environments (on computers, VMs, or cloud) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing on prototype or real target hardware.

Key benefits include:

  • A universal tool for both SIL and HIL development and test tasks.
  • Automated testing with reusable test runs across all development phases.
  • Early simulation of error situations to identify and resolve issues promptly.
  • User-friendly graphical and text-based result evaluation.
  • Hardware and software independence, ideal for CI/CT environments.
  • Comprehensive capabilities for simulating and testing specialized applications like automotive ECU diagnostics.

CANoe offers a modular product concept with editions, variants, and options that can be flexibly customized to specific requirements. New features in Version 19 include support for DDS and Connectivity options, an Electric Motor Model Option for HIL tests, and a dedicated CANoe MedTech product for medical engineering. The AUTOSAR Viewer has been enhanced with new views for topologies and filters. General improvements include dashboard-oriented desktop organization, a new system variable filter, revised bus statistics, and support for .NET 8 for test creation.

Special functions are available, some free-of-charge, such as:

  • AUTOSAR Debugging with the AMD/XCP option for internal ECU parameter access.
  • CAPL AI Assistant for generating, optimizing, and reviewing CAPL scripts.
  • Extended Real Time (ERT) for simulations with high real-time demands.
  • Interfaces, APIs, and Tool Integrations for complex tool environments.
  • Model Option Electric Motor for closed-loop HIL tests of Motor Control Units.
  • OEM-Specific Extensions for customized simulation scenarios.
  • Software-in-the-Loop support for cyber-physical systems.
  • Testing of Security-Protected ECUs and Networks using the 'Security Manager'.
  • Simulate and Test SDC Participants for medical environments using the SDC add-on.

CANoe is available in English, German, and Japanese. System requirements include a modern x86-64 CPU, at least 32 GB RAM, 8 GB SSD, and Windows 10/11 or Windows Server 2022 (for TBE). Vector also provides engineering services for testing and project coaching, as well as CANoe Server Editions for CI environments.
