VEOS is a PC-based simulation platform designed for the validation of electronic control unit (ECU) software across various development stages. It enables the simulation of diverse models, including function models, networks of virtual ECUs (V-ECUs), and vehicle models, even in the early phases of development. Running on standard PCs, VEOS offers function developers, software architects, and ECU testers flexible options for Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testing. Its Dockerization allows for distribution in the cloud, facilitating parallel test execution.

VEOS supports SIL testing for ECU development by simulating a wide range of models like function models, Functional Mock-up Units (FMUs), V-ECUs, and vehicle models independently of specific simulation hardware. For multi-model scenarios, it allows importing, connecting, and running multiple function and plant models based on Simulink® or Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI). VEOS is particularly effective for integration tests, offering extensive integration options, distributed simulation, and scalability, including cloud deployment.

Key benefits include high-quality simulation results with synchronized and reproducible outcomes, support for automotive Ethernet, CAN, and LIN bus communication, and ISO 26262 certification for safety-related development. Its open platform supports various model types (Simulink®, TargetLink, FMUs, V-ECUs) and integrates with third-party tools and cloud solutions. The SIL-HIL transition is seamless, allowing data, tools, and models to be reused between HIL simulations and SIL testing. Flexibility is a core advantage, enabling users to choose best-in-class tools, deploy on Windows, Linux, or Docker, and leverage cloud capabilities with full automation support.

VEOS functionality includes PC-based simulation of heterogeneous models, bus simulation for automotive Ethernet, CAN, CAN FD, and LIN, and C code debugging. It integrates with tool chains for SIL, RCP, and HIL, and supports standards like FMI and AUTOSAR. Optional products include SystemDesk for architecture modeling, ASM for simulation models, AURELION for sensor-realistic simulation, Bus Manager for bus communication setup, SIMPHERA for cloud simulation, ControlDesk for experiment software, and AutomationDesk for test automation.
