AUTERA is a dSPACE product family designed for data-driven development in autonomous driving and driver assistance systems. The core component, AUTERA AutoBox, is a modular and robust in-vehicle data logging and prototyping system offering excellent performance. It excels at reading, processing, and recording raw data from lidar, radar, and camera sensors, as well as automotive buses and networks, with best-in-class bandwidth.
Application Areas AUTERA is dedicated to developing applications for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving (AD). It is ideal for logging extensive data volumes during test drives for homologation, replaying data later, or training neural networks. Key features include a high-performance storage solution, the AUTERA Data Storage Unit (AUTERA DSU), combined with a high-volume AUTERA Solid State Disk (AUTERA SSD). An AUTERA Upload Station facilitates convenient and high-speed data uploads.
The AUTERA AutoBox can be equipped with powerful hardware accelerators like GPUs or FPGAs, enabling the development, validation, and optimization of sensor fusion, perception algorithms, and neural networks.
Key Benefits The hardware's unique strength lies in its combination of high computation power and wide data bandwidth (50 Gbit/s) within a compact form factor. It offers accurate time-stamping and comprehensive bus and network support, adhering to the latest standards like AUTOSAR and Fibex. Support extends to a wide range of camera interfaces, including GMSL II, FPD Link III, and CSI II, for various camera vendors. Its scalable and flexible setup allows tailoring to specific requirements, adapting to the dynamic demands of ADAS/AD development. The AUTERA AutoBox is optimized for in-vehicle use, considering temperature, robustness, and supply voltage. The system comes with a ready-to-use setup based on RTMaps, or users can opt for a Linux operating system with their preferred software environment.
Unique Features
Software Package for Data Logging and Rapid Prototyping RTMaps from Intempora (a dSPACE company) is a component-based software environment for time-stamping, recording, synchronizing, and replaying data from various sensors and vehicle buses. Its intuitive graphical interface allows easy definition of inputs, outputs, and data processing steps. RTMaps ensures high-precision time-stamping for all recorded data, enabling synchronized use in all processing steps and during data replay. A cost-effective runtime version is available for fleet applications. The Linux-based AUTERA system also supports open-source software like ROS.
Bus Configuration for Quick Vehicle Integration The Bus Manager simplifies the configuration of bus interfaces, supporting standards like AUTOSAR for the communication matrix, enabling direct interfacing with the vehicle's bus and network infrastructure.
Tagging While Logging RTag is a live manual tagging application that runs on tablets or notebooks, allowing users to annotate driving situations with customized tags (e.g., roadworks, temporary speed limits, crossroads). This feature simplifies finding relevant situations within large data volumes.
